About the artist

The earth, the water, the air and the fire, are the four primary elements of the physical world; four pillars of the earth, created by the original Tohu Vavohu.

All of the artist Emmanuel Piperno’s work seems to build itself around these elements; beyond, we can easily imagine him trying to combine them to discover the moment before the Tohu Vavohu. It is not surprising that Israel is the country where Piperno exploits the elements in sync with his approach. This young country where, In spite of Israel’s achievements, it’s modernity and the obtained successes, this is a young country where the confrontation to the Tohu Vavohu seems eternal. The artist uses, without any complexity, the sand from which creates small islands in a world that belongs to him, plays with earthy nuances, subtle variations of blue – the one of the sky and the sea - control most of all the red in intense fireworks which are reminiscent of " The Creation " of the world itself.

As for his biography, his current activities develop in three different places, I shall say three different geographies: Paris, Israel and Dallas. In each of these places, the works seem to pursue a different path characterized by the particular elements of the individual environments. If, in Paris, Emmanuel Piperno uses dark tints they tend to continue into monochrome black, on the other hand when he exercises his art in Israel or USA he uses a much wider pallet of clear colors, this time again under the influence of the light and the environmental context. If the artist uses the abstraction in the determined purpose to escape the anecdote, he easily allows himself to be guided by these elements, which constitute the place where he works.
